The coverage around the Lineage IPO this summer was kind of ironic considering how critical cold chain infrastructure is to the global food supply, and yet how invisible it is. Even to most of us in the industry.

To my delight, one of the articles about Lineage recommended a book on the history of the cold chain, Frostbite: How Refrigeration Changed Our Food, Our Planet, and Ourselves.

This is the kind of industry-shaping and society-shaping history that I love to geek out on…and geek out I did.
