Maybe you haven't heard that version of the familiar saying, but in essence, it's the one Saudi Arabia is activating through an investment vehicle called the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company, known as SALIC.
As the name suggests, SALIC has made / is making big investments globally in both production and processing assets across multiple agricultural and livestock commodities.
Today, we are looking at why SALIC exists, what its investments might signal, and some potential implications of an increasing role of sovereign wealth funds in global agriculture.
