The noisy-ness of livestock.
Prime Future 267: the newsletter for innovators in livestock, meat, and dairy
The other day while I was on the treadmill at Orangetheory, Gangsta's Paradise began blasting through the speakers. Y'all — my entire high school career flashed before my eyes, my legs began involuntarily running 10% faster, and my heart started pumping blood like that's it's job. But my ears were wincing – the volume of the speakers was SO LOUD. The salt-and-pepper-haired gentleman on the treadmill next to me saw my visible wince at the noise level and said with a chuckle, "Middle age sneaks up on ya, doesn’t it?"
While somebody really ought to sort out the appropriate volume for music in public spaces, that's not the noise we're talking about today.
Today, we’re talking noise, as in the natural variation of the multitude of variables in any livestock system that makes it difficult to quantify value creation, especially for startups.
